Saturday 13 August - Thursday 8 September 2016
“Southwell Revisited” is an exhibition of sculpture by Peter Eugene Ball, will open in the Chapter House on Saturday 13 August and run till Thursday 8 September 2016. His work is mainly figurative and made from driftwood and other found objects. He is perhaps best known for his religious commissions and currently has more than seventy major pieces in churches and cathedrals throughout the country.
The title of this exhibition reflects the sculptor’s life-long association with the Minster and affectionately recalls significant events such as his very first visit as an impressionable schoolboy at the age of eleven, the commissioning of the Christus Rex in 1987 and the success of his previous exhibition there in 1999.
Peter is delighted now to return to Southwell to exhibit his latest work, which includes both religious and secular sculpture. Once again, Madonnas and pilgrims, saints and angels take their place in this magnificent setting among acrobats and dancers, mermaids and fools to complete another captivating collection.
The exhibition will be open every day and admission is free.
