Tuesday 17th July 2018 I 7pm
St Mary's Church, Arnold
Tickets - £3
Join Arnold Local History Group as they uncover the hidden past of St Mary's Church in Arnold.
Starting at 7.00pm in St Mary’s Church, there will be a guided walk around the church itself and also around the grounds given by Michael Bolton.
A film will be shown of the area of Arnold around the church and the top end of Arnold during the 1950’s, it also shows a number of local Arnold people. Its a fascinating piece of film that was shot by the coal board in the 1950’s, and which has been digitally restored, giving a fascinating insight into Arnold at that time, it also shows the work that was carried out in 1958/9 by the coal board in the church.
There will be a charge of £3.00 to attend on the evening, this will be for the guided walk and talk and refreshments afterwards, but will go towards the restoration of the church tower which has suffered from significant damage recently by pigeons. All are welcome!
Visitors can attend the talk at the cost of £3
