About

Stacey McMullen - 'I Wait' EP Launch
Saturday 10th June, 8.30pm
Nottingham Contemporary CafeBar

Self-taught classical guitarist Stacey McMullen has been performing his eclectic mix of original music throughout the East Midlands for the past 18 months, captivating audiences with complex finger style patterns and expansive lyrical themes atypical of singer song writers omnipresent in music today.

While he has loosely been described as folk, it would be wrong to ignore the rhythmically driven flamenco inspired guitar arrangements and influences of traditional music of several countries. With evident technical skill and his ability to write powerful and meaningful songs using simple lyric structures that drive the point home, it was upon the release of ‘Lines in the sand’, a charity song for refugees, that Stacey started to make waves in the Nottingham music scene.

Stacey releases his debut EP 'I Wait' on I'm Not From London's folkier, blues rooted sister label Wire & Wool Records on Friday 9th June with this his launch on Sat 10th at Nottingham Contemporary.

Support comes from Benjamin Ziec and Girl & The Stone.

'Technically influenced by Celtic, Blues, Samba, Flamenco and Middle Eastern styles of playing. Lyrically, ‘I Wait’ demonstrates Stacey’s ability to infuse these timeless nostalgic sounds with relatable contemporary lyrics.'
