Stonebridge City Farm - Official Opening Day for New Log Cabin Education

About

At 2.00pm on the 30th of August 2013 Stonebridge City Farm will be hosting an official opening for the new ‘Walton Education Room’. Nottingham Councillor Dave Trimble and Local MP Chris Leslie will be cutting the ribbon and opening the new building donated by local online business Walton Web Ltd.

Stonebridge City Farm is a local charity and a favourite of many families in the Nottingham area providing a green space and farm animals for children to enjoy. The farm is a great option for parents and entry is always free. The farm also provides ample free parking and is easy to reach by local transport links.

In June the Walton’s team was looking for a charity to support in the local area; they visited the farm and met with the hardworking team. The Walton’s team were impressed with the work and support the farm offered to the local community. The farm offers free classes, information and support to local people looking to spend time outside and learn more about gardening. After conversations with the farm it was established they needed an indoor space to teach their very popular free, children’s animal handling class. Walton’s then decided to donate one of their popular timber log cabins; this type of building is ideal for the farm providing an indoor space to shelter children during bad weather.

The Walton’s team then spent time with the farm choosing the right building, assessing the site and also decided to donate a shed too. On the 8th of August a Walton’s Installation team arrived early at the farm and installed the log cabin in one day! The next day the Walton’s team returned and installed the shed for the farm too. The total donation from Walton’s is over £2700. Walton’s is proud to support the farm and after being based in the city centre for the last 3 years it was the perfect way to give back to the local community. Marie, the farm’s manager said “This donation is just what the farm needs. Now we have the interior space we need to offer free classes all year round.”
