Professor Carenza Lewis is most famous for her role as a  presenter on Channel 4’s Time Team. Now a lecturer at Lincoln University, Carenza’s talk on the Black Death is fascinating. 

Carenza Lewis MA ScD FSA FHEA is currently Professor of Public Understanding of Research at the University of Lincoln, previously founding Director of Access Cambridge Archaeology at the University of Cambridge (2005-15), presenter on Channel 4's "Time Team" (1993-2005), research fellow at the University of Birmingham (1992-94) and archaeological investigator for the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (1986-99).

Carenza's research interests include medieval archaeology and history, rural settlements and landscapes, the archaeology of children and childhood and public and community heritage. Professor Lewis has carried out archaeological fieldwork and excavation on many sites across southern England, directed numerous community heritage projects and appeared widely on TV and radio. Author of 'Village Hamlet and Field', she also devised the successful aspiration-raising Higher Education Field Academy (HEFA) for teenagers and directed the Cambridge Community Heritage programme.  Her work has been recognised by an honorary doctorate from UEA and was shortlisted for the Marsh Award for Public Archaeology.  Formerly a resident of Bath in the 1980's, Carenza also took part in the Temple Precinct excavations.

If you wish to join the Arnold Local History Group you can do so also at the annual cost of £10 and entitles you to attend monthly meetings for £1, vote at the AGM and be eligible for election to the committee.
