Death of King John, a new play by Peter Tyrer will commemorate the 800th anniversary of King John’s death at Newark Castle on the 19th October, 1216. Supported by Stephen Fry, mental health alumni Baroness Sheila Hollins, Dame Sue Bailey, Sir David Goldberg and Sir Simon Wessely this project has been initiated and supported by charity NIDUS-UK.
The play is written in Shakespearian prose and concerns the last 8 days of King John’s life. Performed by members of the community and local schools this project is designed to develop life skills; bringing together local people of all ages to enhance the town of Newark.
