Katie Bray, winner of the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize at Cardiff Singer of the World in 2019, brings her charisma and radiant voice to our ever-popular Hallé Christmas concert. Her rare talent is showcased in popular arias from Mozart, Rossini and Handel, with some sultry allure in the Habanera from Bizet's Carmen, which also provides some of the orchestral treats in this festive programme. Humperdinck's delightful Hansel and Gretel opens the show with its glowing melodies, whilst Adam Saunders whisks us through a fairytale landscape on a magical sleighride. The tempo gets even quicker in Carter Pann's Slalom which launches its exhilarating downhill sprint with a nod to Beethoven's Ninth and a joyful glint in its eye. With seasonal sounds from Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Christine Hals (of Disney's Frozen fame), and a sackful of good cheering songs, this is your ticket to a truly harmonious Christmas.
