St John's Church, Mansfield Road, Carrington

East of England Singers
Angela Kay (Conductor)
John Barker (Saxophone)

Drama, lyricism, lament, protest, compassion and wonder inspire this very moving new writing by composers re-interpreting sacred words for today's world. From MacMillan's arresting depiction of conflict in Latin America to Whitbourn's brilliant evocation of the music of the Holy Land, merging choral singing with sensational virtuoso saxophone solos, this concert will surprise and excite you.

East of England Singers One of the leading chamber choirs in the East Midlands, the East of England Singers have a busy concert schedule performing works across the full choral range.

The choir’s refreshingly dynamic and committed performances have brought both critical and public acclaim.

The singers excelled ..., conveying beautifully the range of moods and the close marrying of text and setting.

Grahame Whitehead - Nottingham Evening Post

John Barker Woodwind finalist in the 1998 BBC Young Musician of the Year, prize-winning saxophonist John Barker made his Wigmore Hall debut in 2011 and is now in wide demand as a concert artist, acclaimed by The Observer as "an astonishingly accomplished saxophonist".
