The White Peacock: DH Lawrence Centenary exhibition

About

Eastwood will welcome the return of The White Peacock exhibition to the D.H. Lawrence Heritage Centre, in Mansfield Road, Eastwood. The exhibition was created last year to celebrate 100 years since the novel was published in 1911. The White Peacock, which was set in the countryside surrounding Lawrence’s
hometown, demonstrates the writer’s passion and knowledge of the area and how he used real locations in his fiction from the outset – something he would continue to do throughout his career.
The exhibition will contain photographs of key locations from the novel alongside quotations relating to each site. The exhibition will also showcase contributions from the University of Nottingham’s D.H. Lawrence Research Centre and Department of Manuscripts and Special Collections.
Audio devices will also be provided along the exhibition route to take you into the lives of the main characters and show the relationships that Lawrence tried to convey within this rural backdrop.

Entry to the exhibition at the D.H. Lawrence Heritage Centre costs £3.00. Visitors can also purchase a combined ticket for D.H. Lawrence Heritage Centre and the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum for just £5.00 for adults and £3.50 for juniors.
Annual memberships offering free entry and unlimited access to all D.H. Lawrence Heritage exhibitions are also available for as little as £10.00 for adults and £7.50 for concessions.
