Hanwell Wine Estate
Tickets - £210.00
A weekend exploring the ancient craft of basket weaving and learning traditional basketry techniques in the relaxing surroundings of Hanwell Wine Estate. Over the two days your expert tutor Jean will demonstrate and guide you through the techniques to working with willow.
Choose to make:
In two days you can make a traditional willow blackberry picker or foraging basket with a handle. A basket for your favourite things.
Or mix and match and make different things each day. Choose from an obelisk, a pheasant, bird roosting pouches, nests and feeders.
Please state at the time of booking which item you would like to make in the 'comments' box on their website page so they can prepare the willow.
All items can be made by both complete novices and people with experience of using willow. All materials and tools are provided along with refreshments throughout the day and a two-course homemade lunch served with a glass of wine. They know some people like to use their own tool so if you would like to then bring any of the following – Secateurs, scissors, natural string/garden string, a sharp penknife or Stanley knife, a large damp towel or something of the sort to keep your work damp and a pinny too if you wish.
