Weaving with Waste Workshop

About

Friday 16 September 2022 | 10am - 4pm
Hanwell Wine Estate
Tickets - £99

Be inspired by this new but old concept of weaving but using waste materials. In this one-day workshop, your expert tutor Sarah will encourage you to think and look at waste in a new light and give it a second use to make something truly creative and unique using unconventional materials. The workshop will take place in our 100sqm converted barn space at Hanwell Wine Estate, where you can relax and be inspired by the beautiful view that lay ahead.

What you will learn:

 - Explore a wonderful selection of colourful and exciting materials, ranging from old Xmas decorations, plastic packaging, netting, phone cables and twines, that can be incorporated into the weaving, giving each piece of weaving a unique quality.
 - Learn how to put the warp on a simple frame loom and basic weaving techniques
 - You will be shown how your weaving can be made into a table mat, a small bag or displayed as a wall-hanging. You can even make a cover for a small notebook.
 - At the end of the day you will have the ideas and confidence to explore weaving with waste on your own.

Who is the workshop for
Suitable for complete beginners of weaving, but experienced weavers will also be inspired to experiment with the unusual resources.

What is included
All equipment and materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring yarn or other materials of your choice. If you haven't finished by the end of the day or just want to carry on weaving you can buy the frame loom, shuttle and pick-up stick for £15, if you choose to. Refreshments, snacks plus a 2 course homemade lunch with a glass of wine is included in the workshop price as well.
