Wellow Church schoolroom
Free event
Wellow Church Schoolroom will have its doors open on Saturday 4th June from 11am-5pm as part of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations and of Wellow's Maypole Day Celebrations. Visitors are very welcome to come and enjoy this Victorian building's recent restoration and learn about the village's fascinating heritage displayed on its new interpretation panels. Free Wellow heritage walk leaflets are available to help visitors enjoy the village's heritage assets and surroundings, as well as the Wellow Heritage booklet available for a small charge.
The Schoolroom is an historic building in itself having been built in the 1850s, and its careful restoration and recent heritage research project has now enabled it to continue educating residents and visitors about the Schoolroom's past and that of the village of Wellow, as well as to return to its additional function as the village hall it once was. Our Wellow Heritage and Tourism Group are constantly digging deeper into Wellow's past, presenting its results and putting on talks of local interest, so there is always something new being found out. Please come and see this little gem for yourselves.
