With high quality shows in the theatre, a brand new Luminarium and the ever-popular Free Family Weekend in the park, you can rest assured that you and the little ones will be entertained and amazed at Nottingham Lakeside Arts' Wheee! International Children's Theatre and Dance Festival.

The Wheee! Family Weekend, supported by the Woodland Trust, will take place on Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 June, and as usual there will be lots of arts and craft activities plus outdoor theatre and dance performances. The fun will start at mid-day (although the Luminarium will be open from 11am with the usual ticketed entry) and will entertain family members of all ages.

Events throughout the weekend include:

- Fantastic Spiders – facts and fiction with Sarah Goodacre from the University of Nottingham’s School of Life Sciences

- Camera Obscura workshops with Jon Legge

- The Curious Perambulator and its inventive Spider Trails

- A climbing wall, pop-up tennis, football skills and futsal with membersfrom the David Ross Sports Village and Nottingham Tennis Centre

- Paper Spiders and Giant Web-making workshops

- Heritage stories from Highfields Park with Nicky Rafferty

- Summer-watch with Highfields Park Ranger, Steve Clarke and BioBlitz

- Traditional Chinese Crafts with the Nottingham Confucius Institute

 

Lakeside's International Children's Theatre and Dance Festival has become a key event in the regional arts calendar eagerly anticipated by children, families, artists and promoters. Since the first International Festival in 2005 over 40,000 children and families have enjoyed performances by top companies from Spain, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Québec and from across the UK. As in previous years 2018 will include many performances by International Companies, such as Cie Akselere and Dybwikdans.
