Join Hanwell Wine Estate for a relaxing, creative day learning to wire wrap your own unique handcrafted bracelet and ring. Working in our 100sqm Craft barn you will enjoy the beautiful views from the large windows looking out onto the stunning Nottinghamshire countryside that lies ahead. Two different designs to choose from, your talented tutor Jo will take you through the techniques of wiring step by step, so by the time you have finished, you will feel relaxed and content that you have not only made a treasured bracelet and ring to wear but learn a new craft too.
What you will learn:
- The best way to work with copper and beads
- A variety of techniques including wrapping, binding and twisting to achieve the desired result
- The tools needed for different types, shapes, and gauges of wire
- Confidence to work with the tools and materials
What is included:
You will be working with copper, everything is included in the workshop price:- all tools, materials, plus 2-course homemade vegetarian lunch with a glass of local wine, refreshments, and snacks. Nothing to bring, just yourself
Who is the workshop for:
Perfect for beginners or people with experience.
Outline of your morning:
- 10.00am - Arrival with refreshments
- 10.05am - Welcome and meet your tutor Jo;
- Decide which bracelet design to make;
- Introduction to tools and materials;
- Get hands-on and learn the techniques to make your bracelet.
- 11.15am - Refreshments and a snack
- Continue where you left off;
- 12.30pm - Enjoy a vegetarian homemade lunch served with a glass of local wine.
- 1.15pm - Continue where you left off.
- 2.30pm - Refreshment break with a snack.
- Before your session is over you will make a ring as well.
- 4.00pm - Finish and depart with your wonderful handcrafted jewellery pieces.
About your tutor Jo Fleming
An experienced jewellery designer/maker, Jo attending her first craft fair in 1989 with beaded jewellery, but for the last 15 years has predominantly used traditional silversmithing and wire wrapping techniques to create handcrafted pieces in sterling silver and copper, sometimes including semi-precious stones. Jo's style is influenced by art nouveau, along with inspiration from the textures and shapes of the natural world.
To ensure the quality of your personal experience, group size will be limited to 8.
