Witchcraft in Nottinghamshire: the National Civil War Centre

About

Saturday 14th October 2017, 2:30pm

Join Christine Davies to explore how the Modern Witch hunts of Europe (1485 – 1700), affected Nottinghamshire, through local examples of what was put on trial and delve deeper into the possible reasons these crimes came before the courts in the first place.

Hear about the range of laws enacted in England against Witchcraft and discover the difference between how Europe and England treated the crime of witchcraft. Learn about some of the more unusual cures and tests for witchcraft and find out how much it would have cost you to be found guilty of the crime.

Talk length: 50 mins approx.
