Sunday, 30 July 2023 I from 11am to 3pm
Nottingham Industrial Museum
Tickets: Adults £4, concessions £3, accompanied children under 16 free
It's Steam Sunday and more at Nottinghamshire Industrial Museum on 30 July. The boiler will be firing up to provide steam to run the massive beam engine, which for a hundred years pumped some of Nottingham's water supply. There's a range of other working steam engines too, often made or used in Nottingham, and diesel engines too. There's lots to interest the general visitor as well as the specialist.
From 12.30 there will be live folk music with an industrial theme. If the weather allows, musicians will be performing in the museum courtyard.
If food is your interest, try a Taste of History in the Victorian Kitchen. Mrs Bird has been baking Queen Cakes for visitors to sample. Find out more about life in Victorian Britain while you're there.
For younger visitors there are activities inspired by Nottingham Lace, plus a quiz to find objects right across the museum. The model railway will be running and nearby is the fascinating Lego model of Nottingham Station.
Take advantage of reduced admission prices on 30 July, thanks to support from the Friends of Nottingham Museums.
