VisitEngland Access for All Project
As a destination we are working closely with the national tourist board, VisitEngland to help us understand the diverse needs of those with access needs especially when making travel arrangements.
We understand that for most the priority is to simply have as much information as possible beforehand to help when planning and help ascertain any obstacles you may be faced and whether or not a visit to a particular venue can be achieved. We hope to build on the information we provide to assist in that planning process.
As part of our partnership working with VisitEngland, Nottinghamshire is one of the key destinations included in their Access for All project. This has enabled a select few venues in Nottingham to undergo an ‘accessible reinvention’ which has resulted in improved accessibility at some of the best attractions, eateries and hotels in the city.
Each of the venues have been formally assessed and subsequently taken action to improve their offer. All front line staff have also been trained to understand the needs of visitors with access needs, including meeting first hand those that live with the challenges every day. For more information on what these venues offer, a full access report can be found within each of the venue listings.
