About

Nottingham Castle opened once again to visitors on Monday 26 June, bringing Nottingham’s heritage back to the heart and soul of the city.

Brand new admission arrangements mean that an adult pays £12 once and can visit all year, while accompanied children 15 years old and under go free with each paying adult (up to 3 children) – making it an affordable and family-friendly day out.

Discover highlights of a Nottingham Castle visit below:

  • The medieval-themed adventure playground, Hood’s Hideout, provides hours of fun and discovery for children of all ages, all year round.

  • Relive some of the most daring adventures of Nottingham’s world-famous outlaw in Robin Hood Adventures. Experience legends and ballads of Robin Hood on digital “in the round” storytelling screens, train with Robin’s Merrie Band in the coach-arch gaming spaces, and see what life was really like in a medieval town on innovative interactive gaming tables.

  • Step back in time and experience three of Nottingham’s most rebellious and bloody episodes in the Rebellion Gallery, where you’ll discover the people of Nottingham’s inherent rebel spirit.

  • In the Ducal Palace’s galleries, learn about the creative and industrial history of Nottingham through a showcase of exquisite works of art. From lacemaking to intricate Nottingham alabaster, there’s plenty to impress.

  • Descend into the remarkable caves that snake through Castle Rock as you join the Underground Adventure Tour, exploring the foundations of the medieval Castle – from dire dungeons to wonderous wine cellars.

  • Explore the medieval castle through graphic panels and bespoke viewing frames, on the Explore Train throughout the castle grounds.

  • Buy beautiful bespoke products sources from artisan craftspeople based in Nottingham, the UK and around the world from the Castle Shop.

  • Drop into their cafes to try a delicious range of sandwiches, light meals, cakes and afternoon teas, freshly prepared using sustainably sourced ingredients. The Terrace Café offers a seasonal menu accompanied by spectacular views of the city, and the Coffee Shop offers speedy service and value for money.
