After being closed for the past few years undertaking a major redevelopment, Nottingham Castle, and its caves will be reopening on Monday 21 June 2021 with a brand new, world-class experience.
Cave tours and experiences can be booked in advance as part of your ticket, or on the day of your visit from the Visitor Centre. The tours are the perfect way to get more from your day at Nottingham Castle.
Underground Adventure Tour
Descend into the remarkable caves that snake through Castle Rock on a 25-minute tour exploring the foundations of the medieval Castle – from dire dungeons to wondrous wine cellars.
Hear tales of Nottingham and its famous outlaw, Robin Hood, in the atmospheric underground caves where the stories took place.
The tour has a capacity of 15 people.
The tour is suitable for families and young children.
It covers a distance of approximately 120 steps of varying steepness and regularities with a handrail. Some of the ground underfoot is uneven.
There will be dim lighting.
Please note you must also have a castle ticket to access the caves.
