The city and county boast some spectacular theatre venues. Nottingham Playhouse, Nottingham Arts Theatre and the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall all offer a variety of diverse performances throughout all seasons.
For independent and smaller touring shows, check out the incredible events at The Lace Market Theatre, Squire Performing Arts Centre or Lakeside Arts. These unique venues host some incredible evnts from family friendly shows to impriv and comedy performances, so make sure to check out their upcoming events.
Motorpoint Arena Nottingham has hosted world-renowned musical stars such as Sir Elton John, Oasis, and Duran Duran as well as comedic legends Lee Evans and John Bishop. With a seated capacity of 9,300 and a standing capacity of 10,000, there is nowhere quite like the Arena. You may also know it as the home of local Ice Hockey Team, The Nottingham Panthers, as the arena uses an ice floor!
If you're looking for more music venues, the brand new Metronome sees a diverse line-up of moving image, live performance and spoken word from across the country and beyond. To catch the best of Nottingham’s buzzing independent music scene, check out the gig line-up at Southbank City. Victorian music hall The Malt Cross is a gorgeous venue hosting regular gigs, events and workshops, including open mics every month.
If you fancy watching new film releases and eating popcorn, The Cornerhouse, located in the city centre, is one of Nottingham's best-loved entertainment venues. At this unique venue, you can also visit The Lost City Adventure Golf for a spot of crazy golf or enjoy a veriety of games at Funstation. For those feeling more adventurous, you can also try axe throwing at Axed Nottingham!
Across town, in the historic area of Hockley, Broadway, a four screen independent cinema and cafe, is another great place to sit back and see the best films from the UK and around the world. Peggy's Skylight, Nottingham's independednt jazz club, is also in Hockley. This is the perfect place to catch a show and you can even enjoy a delicious dinner or some drinks while you're there.
Visit the National Ice Centre and take to the ice and enjoy a couple of hours ice skating, whatever your ability. The NIC provides the East Midlands with a top quality indoor sports, entertainment and conference venue.
For something a little bit different, why not try Schuggies-Ceilidhs? These social dances with fast and furious Scottish music are the perfect way to get active, meet new people and simply let your hair down! No experience required - mistakes are encouraged and you'll be surrounded by plenty of friendly folk willing to give you a hand and get you dancing.
