Cycling
If you're a fan of cycling, Nottinghamshire's action-packed events and beautiful terrain will not disappoint. From smooth canals that snake through the county to challenging off road routes in Sherwood Forest, you'll find plenty of places to get out on two wheels.
Summer sees the Cycle Live event which features five rides of varying distances, each taking their names from local legends - Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Friar Tuck, Sheriff of Nottingham and Little John. For those who like to mix it up with land and water, check out the Outlaw Triathlon, hosted by the National Water Sports Centre. Finally, for families fancying a fun day out head to Let's Ride, an annual street festival for anyone on a bike which features music, food and drink, fun and games, giveaways, activities and more.
You’ll also find plenty of opportunities to gear up and get active on two wheels this summer. Explore our fantastic routes and trails ideal if you’re looking to find the best of Nottinghamshire’s gruelling climbs, winding mountain bike trails, and scenic locations for leisurely afternoon rides.
For cycle hire within the city, you can download the Citycard Cycles app and hire an on-street bicylce for a few hours. For longer-term bike hiring, visit the Citycard Cycle Hire page of the Nottingham City Council website. Alternatively, Nottingham Cycle Tours provide guided tours in and around the city. Experience Nottingham on your bicycle and see it through the eyes of the local guide.
As well as superb facilities for cycling, we’re also proud of our illustrious cycling heritage – as the home of the world famous Raleigh brand - which had a major UK factory here, and which still has its headquarters in Nottinghamshire today.
Please note, there may be an admission charge at some of the attractions, or a charge to use the parking facilities.
