'Nottingham October - UK's Festival City

Robin Hood Day – Saturday 29 October 2016

Celebrate Nottingham’s famous outlaw Robin Hood, with a day dedicated to him!

Visit Nottingham Central Library for FREE Robin Hood themed crafts and activities, from 10:30am until 4pm on Saturday 29 October. Kids will be able to make puppets, design the Sheriff of Nottingham's money (and decide whether to steal it to give to the poor!) and hear stories about Robin Hood and his merry men.

Take part in the Sheriff's Gauntlet, a FREE one-day challenge as part of the GameCity Festival that takes place around the city on Saturday 29 October. People of all ages and abilities put themselves through trials of skill and ingenuity, as did generations of peasants before them, in an attempt to win the Sheriff's favour (and a small plot of Nottingham land!). The Sheriff's Gauntlet is a new, free annual family event for Nottingham. It draws on a centuries-old tradition when the citizens of Nottingham were invited to compete in mental and physical trials that the Sheriff devised, testing their agility and guile in order to better themselves.

Head to Nottingham Castle where the Robin Hood Pageant (on Friday 28 - Sunday 30 October) will transport you back to medieval times with jousting on horseback, sword fighting and falconry as Robin Hood takes on the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. Tickets are just £20 for a family for the Night Jousts, and £25 for the daytime event.
