This May, Reel Equality Film Club will be returning to a screen near you, with a bang.
A breath-taking debut from female director Emerald Fennel, Reel Equality is delighted to present what the Guardian has referred to as a ‘deathly dark satire of gender politics’. Promising Young Woman is a film like no other. As the name suggests, the narrative highlights the lasting damage sexual violence can have on Promising Young Women, and presents a sound case that society at large should concern themselves with this, more than the damage that ‘allegations’ and convictions on Promising Young Men who choose to perpetrate abuse and jeopardise their own futures as a result.
It will be an event to remember which celebrates this one of a kind film and work taking place in Notts to keep women safe at night. Expect to see societal attitudes that underpin Violence Against Women and Girls firmly challenged.
