Saturday 10 October 2020 | 7.30pm
Albert Hall
Tickets: Adults £18 Stalls, £15 Arena, children and students £5.
The first orchestral concert in the Albert Hall since March is going ahead on Saturday 10th October at 7.30pm
It includes Dvorak's popular symphony 'From the New World', Strauss' Wind Serenade and Elgar's String Serenade and you can be in the audience joining Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra to celebrate the return of live music.
All suitable precautions will be taken to safeguard the health and wellbeing of players and audience so please check the guidance on our website regarding specific arrangements for this concert.
The concert starts with the Wind Serenade in E-flat for 13 wind instruments which shows Richard Strauss' mastery of writing for wind and brass instruments. This is followed by one of the best known of Edward Elgar's compositions, the delightful Serenade for Strings, which dates from 1892. In the same year that Elgar's Serenade was published, audiences the other side of the Atlantic first heard Dvorak's New World symphony. The composer found much inspiration in the music he heard while working in America but his New World Symphony is more like a love song to his native Bohemia than anything reflecting the brash young country he found himself in. Its popularity is well deserved, for the tunes are superb.
Tickets for this concert are available only through Ticketsource which can be booked online - www.ticketsource.co.uk and by phone 0333 666 3366.
