Ori (from "Ori" meaning head and "Já" meaning now) is a dance performance that invites the audience to explore and recognise the daily influences of the African diaspora in Brazil through the perspective of the Yoruba people and their Orixas (orishas).
Orixas are ancestors who have been deified. This dance performance will feature 17 orishas and their stories; these orixas can be from recent history, perhaps only one hundred years old, or they may be over a thousand years old. Orixas are a link between the spiritual world and the world of humans.
The storyline includes an exciting journey back in time, aiming to recover what has been systematically or otherwise erased by the passage of time.
