The Sir John Borlase Warren
£5
Zig Zag Tours invite you to their end of year xmas special on the 2nd of December, a classic Nottingham tour of pubs and caves!
This was partly inspired by the recent draft publication of an excellent new technical guidance note, written to raise awareness of the importance of our historic cave network underneath the city. They will be making good use of this on the early xmas pub crawl, to consider some of the earlier medieval uses of the caves - as domestic cellars, or for industrial and commercial purposes; in fact they were some of Nottingham's earliest fridges and larders. They were also used for accommodation, or as sources of water, perhaps even ritualistic ceremony. Some were even articulated with carefully detailed archways and columns with foliated capitals; high status caves under imposing townhouses - our objective is to reveal as much of their significance before the beers kick in and we forget what we came for.
Join this unique tour to round off 2022 in Zig Zag style.
