When completing Nottinghamshire Hospitality STARS Awards entry forms, remember the judges could be looking at up to 20 other applications for the same category, so make sure yours stands out from the rest!
- Follow the guidance on word limits - it’s difficult to judge someone’s strengths in a couple of sentences, but it can be very hard to pick out the relevant details if there’s too much text.
- You can enter more than one category, but separate online entries must be completed for each and supplementary information should be provided separately.
- Read through the criteria carefully and remember to show how your nominee ‘fits’ the category (for example how long they have been in the role, etc.).
- Use bullet points and simple English where relevant, especially when listing achievements.
- Show tangible results where relevant and examples of how a team member has had an effect on the business, e.g. has staff turnover decreased? Are there specific comments from visitors? Do visitors ask for them? Are there specific events which demonstrate their excellence? Has the business/team achieved specific positive results and if so what are they? etc.
- When referring to a particular event, campaign, project or activity, show how the nominated individual or team has contributed directly towards its success.
- Don’t be shy; shout about why your entry excels.
- Keep the information recent, what have they achieved in the last couple of years?
- Include the little things that your business or individual does that make a difference.
- Please note that by entering the awards, you agree to be part of the publicity if you are a finalist in any category.
Don’t forget all sizes and types of business can enter these awards, from the smallest B&B to the largest visitor attraction, and all have just as much chance of winning.
