Civil War Cannonball Hole on Newark Church
The spire on Newark Parish Church dates back to around 1220 and as the fierce battles of the English Civil War raged, it was used as a look-out post. Today, there is a hole in the spire where a Parliamentarian cannonball is said to have hit it in 1644.
The church forms part of the Civil War Trail which can be downloaded here.
