Play Days are a popular feature in the Borough’s annual events calendar and are completely free to attend. See below specific dates & locations, along with what to expect:

30th July 2025 - Nuthall, Basil Russell Park, NG16 1EJ - 

Get ready for a fun-filled summer day, celebrating National Play Day with the theme “Space for Play”, which promotes accessible, inclusive spaces for children and young people to play and connect with others.

Families can enjoy a wide range of activities, including free face painting and hair braiding, puppet shows, magic and bubble shows, circus skills, creative workshops, cool science, KMX go-karting, donkey petting, inflatables, fairground rides, and more. Even toddlers have dedicated play areas, ensuring fun for all ages.

Food stalls offering sweet treats, ice cream, and more will be available. Free on-site parking is provided, and attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle, or use public transport.

The event is organised by Broxtowe Borough Council in partnership with Nuthall Parish Council.

5th August 2025 - Chilwell - Inham Nook Recreation Ground, NG9 4GY - 

Chilwell Play Day promises a fun-packed summer afternoon for families, celebrating National Play Day under the theme “Space for Play”, which promotes inclusive, accessible spaces where children can play and connect freely.

Activities include puppet and bubble shows, drumming, circus skills, cool science, creative arts, a climbing wall, KMX go-karting, donkey petting, inflatables, fairground rides, and more. Toddlers have their own dedicated play area, making it an event for all ages.

Food, sweets, and ice cream will be available from local stalls, and a special karate demonstration by GRK Karate will follow the 1pm Opening Ceremony.

Free on-site parking is available, and attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle, or use public transport.

7th August 2025 - Eastwood - Coronation Park , NG16 3LQ - 

Enjoy a fun-filled summer afternoon, celebrating National Play Day with the theme “Space for Play”, promoting inclusive, accessible spaces for children to play and connect.

Families can look forward to free face painting and hair braiding, puppet shows, magic and bubble shows, circus skills, cool science, arts workshops, a climbing wall, donkey petting, inflatables, fairground rides, and more. Little ones have their own special play area too.

Tuck into tasty food, sweets, and ice cream from local stalls, and don’t miss the dance performance by Shianne Ambers School of Dance after the 1pm Opening Ceremony.

Free parking is available via the Chewton Street entrance (NG16 3LQ). Walking, cycling, and public transport are encouraged.

11th August 2025 - Stapleford - Ilkeston Road Recreation Ground, NG9 8JL - 

Get ready for a fun-filled day celebrating National Play Day with the theme “Space for Play”, which champions inclusive spaces where children can play, connect, and feel part of their community.

Enjoy free face painting and hair braiding, puppet and bubble shows, circus skills, cool science, arts workshops, a climbing wall, donkey petting, inflatables, fairground rides, and more. There’s something for all ages, including a special area for toddlers.

Delicious food, sweets, and ice cream will be available from local stalls. Don’t miss dance performances by Affinity Dance School and Louise Wright Dance School after the 1pm Opening Ceremony.

Free on-site parking is available, though walking, cycling, or using public transport is encouraged.
