The Nottingham Symphony Orchestra Family Christmas Concert is back!
After the success of our previous Christmas performance, NSO will again be serving up a feast of festive family fun in a concert taking place at the city's prestigious Albert Hall on Saturday, December 19th. Starting at the family-friendly time of 3.30pm, NSO is again delighted to be joined by guest conductor Stephen Bullamore for an entertaining collection of Christmas-themed music that also features appearances by vocal soloists Gareth Wynne and Isabel Caswell, in addition to the choristers from Newark's St Mary Magdalene Church.
And don't forget the key role you can play in the concert as an audience member. There will be a number of Christmas carols and favourites for you to join in with, getting your Christmas week launched in rousing style.
The concert will start with the spectacular A Christmas Overture by award-winning TV and film composer Nigel Hess and you can also hear Rimsky-Korsakov's suite from The Snow Maiden - including the exciting Dance Of The Tumblers - plus Khachaturian's Masquerade Waltz, and the rare chance to hear an early work by Gustav Holst, A Winter Idyll. There's also Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's charming A Christmas Overture, and festive favourites such as Winter Wonderland, Do You Hear What I Hear, White Christmas and more.
It wouldn't be Christmas without a visit from The Snowman so you can look forward to a performance of the much-loved song Walking In The Air. Leroy Anderon fans are in for a double treat thanks to his charming light music classic Sleigh Ride while his Christmas Festival is a welcome addition to any concert. There will also be a range of popular Christmas songs for you to savour, featuring our guest vocalists and choir.
All in all, it promises to be a wonderful afternoon of festive music so make sure you get your tickets soon for what will be a memorable Christmas concert for all the family.
