Gauntleys of Nottingham are one of Nottingham’s oldest retailers having been founded in 1880 as a tobacconists, before expanding into wine and spirits in the mid 1980's when owner John Gauntley took over the running of the business from his father. Situated on the entrance to Nottingham’s famous Exchange arcade, Gauntleys are one of Nottinghams most famous land marks. The Gauntleys buying team take their buying responsibilities very seriously, being one of the first UK winemerchants to venture into the Rhone Valley in France, they have an enviable portfolio of agencies, featuring some of the great winemakers of the region along with a selection of the talented next generation. They also have the UK agency for one of the greatest Champagne growers in the region, that being Champagne Vilmart, as well as selection of wines from the Loire, Alsace and beyond.

The wine tasting evenings are quite educational and are presented in a fun and entertaining way. When it comes to wine the Gauntleys buying team are exceptional! Focusing mainly on French wines (excluding Bordeaux) the range of top producers and rising stars is both deep and diverse. The Gauntleys store is quite small and pokey and it is here where you will find a stunning range of over 300 interesting and often eclectic wines. Added to this Gauntleys, hold a number of informative and fun wine tasting evenings which are held at the Gauntleys store. The evenings are priced at £25 per person.
