Free Event
Discover the incredible diversity within the world of artists' filmmaking in the UK, with a presentation of the work of the shortlist of this year's Film London Jarman Award, which comes with a £10,000 prize. Films in the programme use animation, analogue film, poetry and choral song to explore narratives around air pollution and inequality, cryptocurrency, the queering of the British countryside and gentrification.
The artists shortlisted this year are: Ayo Akingbade, Andrew Black, Julianknxx, Sophie Koko Gate, Karen Russo and Rehana Zaman.
The programme will also feature an intimate conversation with Ayo Akingbade who will be sharing her musings and recent works as part of this year's Film London Jarman Award Tour, in a free-flowing exchange of ideas with Canan Batur, curator of Live Programmes at Nottingham Contemporary.
The shortlisted films will be screened in The Space at Nottingham Contemporary on the day of the event, 04 October 2023, between 1pm and 5pm.
