Nottingham Fact or Fiction - A Talk By Graham Woodward

About

Tuesday 21 April 2026 I 7pm
Venue: Arnold Methodist Church
Tickets: £1.00 for members and £3.00 for non-members

Do we really have the oldest inn in England? Which Nottingham pub can truly claim that historic title? Is St Mary’s genuinely a Saxon church, or is that just another enduring local legend? Who exactly were the Royal Children, and did Ned Ludd truly lead the Luddites or is his story more myth than man?

Join us as we explore these fascinating questions and uncover the truth behind some of Nottingham’s most enduring stories. Separating fact from fiction, Graham will take you on an engaging journey through the city’s rich past, revealing surprising details, forgotten characters, and curious claims along the way. Packed with history, humour, and plenty of “did you know?” moments, this talk promises to shed new light on familiar landmarks and long-held beliefs.

Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy Graham’s captivating and detailed account of Nottingham: Fact or Fiction,  a must for history lovers, locals, and anyone curious about the stories that shaped our city.
