The 22nd Great Nottingham Inclosure Walk
To provide you with the best experience, cookies are used on this site. Find out more here.

This annual free Walk celebrates the 130 acres of Recreation Ground given to the people of Nottingham, forever, by the Inclosure Act of 1845. There were 3 miles of Walks and 5 Parks, (now 4), totalling 5 miles, round what was then the edge of the town, now part of the inner city.
The route starts at what was the stile leading to the Wilford Ferry and finishes on the Forest, by the Inclosure Oaks, one planted in 1865 to celebrate the 1845 Act, and one planted 150 years later in 2015 to commemorate its continuing benefits.
The 5 miles of smooth surface are suitable for powered wheelchairs or scooters. There are two hills. At the end a bus or tram can take you back to the city centre and the excellent café on the Forest is a favourite final destination.
