Join this talk by Richard White and find out how did an indigenous Australian bush call – first recorded by Europeans in 1788 – find a place in English literature, including the work of D. H. Lawrence, Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, John Betjeman, D. J. Enright, Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett.

Richard White recently retired as Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, where he taught Australian cultural history and the history of travel and tourism. This talk has been organised in partnership with the Centre for travel Writing Studies at Nottingham Trent University.
