The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons invade the stage in this funny yet faithful open-air adaptation of H G Wells sci-fi classic as they use musical instruments, puppetry and, um, enthusiasm to recreate deadly heat-rays, giant fighting-machines, squidgy tentacled Martians and interplanetary warfare on an epic scale.
The chances of success? A million to one…
Spend a wonderful summer evening enjoying open air theatre in Nottingham Castle’s beautiful grounds. Bring a camping chair and a blanket, it can be rather windy on the Middle Bailey, and settle in with a drink or snack as the the sun sets over stunning cityscape views.
The Castle's Coffee Shop inside the Visitor Centre will be serving beverages until 7pm, and snacks including nachos, hotdogs and popcorn will be available for the duration of the event from the ice cream truck.
The Pantaloons are a vibrant and anarchic theatre company whose style draws from a wide variety of popular theatre traditions from commedia dell’arte and clowning to stand-up comedy and silent movies. They are a company dedicated to making theatre which is accessible yet intelligent, taking inspiration from an eclectic mix of popular forms and re-inventing these to produce imaginative and innovative work.
