About

Bands in the Park  - Victoria Embankment (Free event)
Sun 31 July to Sunday 18 September
2.00 pm - 4.00 pm

Join us in this Green Flag award winning park this summer 2022 for a series of free concerts.

A short walk from Nottingham city centre, you will find Victoria Embankment, a historical public area that was constructed between 1898 and 1901 with 10 miles of concrete steps, 7.5 miles of iron fencing and 150 seats.

This public area is a great place to go for a casual stroll, along the River Trent.

The suspension bridge was built in 1906 and was originally designed to carry a water supply to Wilford Hill reservoir.

Queen Victoria’s statue arrived in the memorial gardens at Victoria Embankment in 1953 after standing in the city centre’s Old Market Square since it’s unveiling in 1905.

The bandstand on the Victoria Embankment is a Grade-II listed building, and is used to host brass bands during the summer and is also used as a main stage for bands performing at the annual Riverside Festival.

Watch out for other Bands in the park concerts at the Nottingham Arboretum

Audiences are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs or cushions or simply sit on the amphitheatre steps. Unfortunately, we can no longer provide seating for these concerts.

All dates:

Sunday 31 July              Deep Down Brass

Sunday 18 September  Hucknall and Linby Mining Community Brass Band

Deep Down Brass
Deep Down Brass are a six-piece brass and drums group with a vast repertoire of brassy pop hits -  all given the unique DDB twist.

"Deep Down Brass are the ultimate crowd pleaser! They are an absolute hit with everyone and got our customers dancing every night over the festive period. Couldn’t recommend them enough - they are our 'go to’ for entertainment"

"Brass bands are such a good way to enjoy outdoor spaces easily, no need for cables and power etc. so this was perfect for us. The crowd loved it. Their music isn’t exactly traditional brass band tunes, which I was nervous would not be a crowd pleaser. However, their song choices were brilliant, and familiar enough that there was lots of humming, singing along, and dancing. Several of the children danced for the whole two hours, they absolutely loved it! The families were so happy. It was really a brilliant occasion."

Hucknall and Linby Mining Community Brass Band
A friendly, youthful band based in Nottingham. The band was formed in 2008 and since then have gone from strength to strength, currently competing in the Championship section, the top division of Brass Banding. Comprising members from throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire the band rehearses once a week on a Thursday evening in Hucknall. As a band we have a youthful outlook on music and brass banding and this generates a uniquely friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
