As the festive season approaches, Nottinghamshire comes to life with Christmas lights and decorations adorning shops and buildings.
A magical Winter Wonderland will come to life in Nottingham while our towns and villages will be illuminated as Christmas events take place at the end of November and beginning of December 2023.
The popular Christmas event at Wollaton Hall is back for 2023, turning the Wollaton Hall and Park estate into an enchanting world of light and music. From Friday 1st to Sunday 31st December 2023, you can marvel at the completely transformed Wollaton Hall and Gardens - the visually stunning multi-sensory experience is something you don’t want to miss!
Join the Christmas Light Switch On at the National Ice Centre and be the first to skate on the Christmas themed rink! They'll be celebrating their Christmas light switch on Saturday 25th November between 2.30pm - 4.30pm, before the first festive skating session begins. You can expect twinkling lights, a magical tree and some delicious refreshments available from their Sub Zero cafe… we can't wait!
Head to the rural Nottinghamshire village of Eastwood on Tuesday 28th November for the Eastwood Christmas Light Switch On from 6pm. On the night you can enjoy Victorian Carol Singers, festive street-theatre acts, fairground rides, a nativity trail, carol singing and much more! Santa will also be visiting Eastwood in his magical grotto, from 5.45pm at The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum Courtyard. The Christmas light switch on ceremony with the Deputy Mayor of Broxtowe and the Town Mayor will take place around the Christmas tree at 7pm on Eastwood Square.
On Saturday 25th November you can catch the Stapleford Christmas Lights Switch On from 12pm (noon). Santa will be in attendance at his magical grotto from 1.30pm, with the main activities from 4.30pm. You can expect festive street theatre acts, children fairground rides, a human nativity trail, carol singing led by the Salvation Army Band and much more! The Christmas light switch on ceremony officiated by the Mayor of Broxtowe and the Town Mayor will be staged at 5.30pm. Don’t miss the spectacular firework display at 6.30pm.
Catch the Beeston Christmas Lights Switch On Saturday 2nd December from 4.30pm. A Christmas market will be running from 12pm (noon) and Santa will be visiting Beeston Library from 3pm to 5pm where he’ll be collecting Christmas wishes from all of kids. The main event will start at 4.30pm at Beeston Square. The Christmas light switch on ceremony led by the Mayor of Broxtowe will take place at 5.30pm on Beeston Square, followed by a spectacular firework display at 6.30pm.
Join the free Christmas Light Switch-On at Nottingham Central Library on Monday 4th December. Including live music, a bauble hanging ceremony, a Christmas Fayre and food & drink options available at the cafe, this promises to be a delightful event for the whole family.
There will also be a Christmas Light Switch On in Arnold on Friday 24th November from 4pm, outside the AMP building at the former Arnold Market site. The event will feature performances from local schools and choirs, a lantern parade, street entertainers, a visit from Santa and an indoor craft fair.
