As the festive season approaches, Nottinghamshire comes alive with sparkling Christmas lights, magical decorations, and immersive experiences across towns, villages, and iconic venues. From enchanting light trails to city-wide illuminations, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Light Trails & Illuminations in Nottinghamshire

Light Post Farm – Gloworm Light Trail
22 November – 23 December 2025
Wander through a 1km illuminated farm trail, surrounded by festive lights and seasonal magic. Enjoy the farm’s newborn lambs, hot chocolate, roast marshmallows, and sweet treats at the Mini Christmas Market. Little ones can decorate gingerbread or make magical reindeer dust to take home. The trail runs Thursday to Sunday.

Wollaton Winter Light Trail
26 November – 31 December 2025
Experience immersive installations, soundscapes, fairground rides, food vendors, and marshmallow toasting on this spectacular festive trail through Wollaton Hall’s grounds.

The Lights of Abraham – Heights of Abraham, Matlock Bath
21 November – 30 December 2025 | 16:00–20:00 (last entry 19:00)
Take a moonlit cable car ride across the river before exploring illuminated gardens, boardwalks, and woodland paths at the summit. Discover neon forests, giant swans, interactive stepping stones, and enjoy festive food and drinks at the Vista Bar or café. Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

Nottingham Winter Wonderland – Old Market Square
12 November – 31 December 2025
Step into a festive wonderland in the heart of Nottingham. A Giant Christmas Tree features in the famous Old Market Square, you will be surrounded with Christmas lights as they stretch off throughout the city centre and adorn the front columns of the Council House.

Christmas Light Switch-On Events

Stapleford Christmas Lights Switch-On 2025
Saturday 29 November 2025 | 13:00–19:00
Derby Road Central Car Park, Stapleford, NG9 7AS | FREE
Stapleford’s Christmas celebration is back with a festive market, fairground, Santa’s Grotto, live entertainment, and a lights switch-on at 17:30. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 19:00. Activities include street theatre, carol performances, and a lively set from The SKAS.

Nottingham Central Library Christmas Light Switch-On

Celebrate the season with live music, festive stalls, Christmas songs performed by Ro De La Monja, and a special orchestral performance from the Peak Wind Orchestra.

Eastwood Christmas Lights Switch-On 2025

Eastwood Square & Victoria Street, NG16 3GB | FREE
Enjoy a Christmas Market, festive fairground, Santa’s Grotto at The D.H Lawrence Birthplace Museum (pre-booked accessible sessions available), live entertainment, a lights switch-on at 17:30, and fireworks at 18:30.
