Christmas would not be complete without a visit from Santa Claus - and we've heard a rumour that the man in red will be calling in at some of Nottinghamshire's best-loved attractions.
At this magical time of year youngsters will be able to see Santa in his grotto and tell him what they would like for Christmas. And, as an extra special treat, they may even receive a small present to take home with them.
So, take a look at some of the places you can see Santa in Nottinghamshire this year.
In a new location for 2020 which gives more space and a socially distanced experience, you can meet Father Christmas in The Old Kitchen at Christmas at Belvoir Castle. The space will be transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with stunning trees, snowy paths and beautiful decorations to take your breath away. Each child can be accompanied by a maximum of two adults. Be sure to check out the Christmas Markets at the Engine Yard and the magnificent themed installations at Belvoir during your visit!
Santa will also be stopping off in his Woodland Grotto at Conkers Winter Wonderland. This is your chance to tell Santa that you have been good, and fingers crossed, he may share some pre-Christmas presents! With plenty of other magical festive experiences and activities including the Enchanted Forest and the Valley of Christmas Lights, this is sure to be a great day out for all the family.
One of the best places to see Santa in Nottinghamshire is on board a train at the Great Central Railway. He'll be visiting passengers in the beautifully restored compartment coaches to allow for social distancing, with risk assessments updated regularly in line with latest Government guidance. The Santa Steam Rains run from 5th to 24th December 2020. During their trip children will be able to talk to Father Christmas and will receive a small Christmas gift as well. Refreshments will also be available throughout the train journey.
Climb aboard one of Santa’s sleighs at Christmas Greetings at Sundown Adventureland and take a magical journey through the enchanted forest. You’ll be greeted by the elves and the ever-friendly Mrs Claus and when it’s your time, you’ll be invited to meet the big man himself. When you meet him, you’ll find out whether you’re on the naughty or nice list and if you name’s on the right list (it normally is, so don’t worry!), you’ll receive a lovely present and the chance to share your wishes with him.
