Christmas would not be complete without a visit from Santa Claus - and we've heard a rumour that the man in red will be calling in at some of Nottinghamshire's best-loved attractions.
At this magical time of year youngsters will be able to see Santa in his grotto and tell him what they would like for Christmas. And, as an extra special treat, they may even receive a small present to take home with them.
So, take a look at some of the places you can see Santa in Nottinghamshire this year.
Meet Father Christmas in The Old Kitchen at Christmas at Belvoir Castle. The space will be transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with stunning trees, snowy paths and beautiful decorations to take your breath away. Each child can be accompanied by a maximum of two adults. Be sure to check out the Christmas Markets at the Engine Yard and the magnificent themed installations at Belvoir during your visit!
You can also visit Santa's Grotto at The Engine Yard Shopping Village at Belvoir Castle. Bring your litte ones along to meet Belvoir Castle's singing reindeers, stop for a family photo on the 'Belvoir Express' train and take home a delightful gift. The Engine Yard will be transformed into a winter utopia, perfect for present shopping from our boutique stores, picking up your festive essentials and indulging in delicious food & drink!
Santa will also be stopping off in his Woodland Grotto at Conkers Winter Wonderland. This is your chance to tell Santa that you have been good, and fingers crossed, he may share some pre-Christmas presents! With plenty of other magical festive experiences and activities including the Enchanted Forest and the Valley of Christmas Lights, this is sure to be a great day out for all the family.
One of the best places to see Santa in Nottinghamshire is on board a train at the Great Central Railway. He'll be visiting passengers in the beautifully restored compartment coaches to allow for social distancing, with risk assessments updated regularly in line with latest Government guidance. The Santa Steam Trains will run from Wednesday 1st December to Friday 24th December 2021. During their trip children will be able to talk to Father Christmas and will receive a small Christmas gift as well. Refreshments will also be available throughout the train journey.
Climb aboard one of Santa’s sleighs at Christmas Greetings at Sundown Adventureland and take a magical journey through the enchanted forest. You’ll be greeted by the elves and the ever-friendly Mrs Claus and when it’s your time, you’ll be invited to meet the big man himself. When you meet him, you’ll find out whether you’re on the naughty or nice list and if you name’s on the right list (it normally is, so don’t worry!), you’ll receive a lovely present and the chance to share your wishes with him.
Dine with Santa at Rufford Abbey and tuck into a delicious breakfast or lunch. Suitable for children from 2 years, choose from a Yummy Breakfast Fry Up or a festive themed platter of treats for lunch. Please note that all children must be accompanied by at least 1 paying adult and you must give advice on any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
If your little one prefers a walk on the wild side, The Christmas Time Tangle at White Post Farm is the perfect option. Santa's time machine has malfunctioned and he needs help to fix it before it's too late! With tasks to complete and characters to meet, your little one will be have lots of fun and may even recieve an early present from Santa himself for their help in fixing the time machine. After the event you can explore the farm and see all of their festive animals, which is included in the ticket price.
Enjoy a festive skate with Santa and his pals at Skate with Santa at the National Ice Centre. The dazzling Christmas rink will be adorned with hundreds of Christmas lights and a huge tree, with lots of festive fun guaranteed. Your little ones can take to the ice and grow their confidence at their own pace while they skate with reindeer, penguin, seal and snowmen ice equipment. You can then finish off with hot chocolates and marshmallows in the SubZero cafe. The perfect Christmas treat!
