Djanogly Recital Hall | Nottingham Lakeside Arts
£18
A recital programme that celebrates the beauty of the contralto voice. The three songs by a young Richard Strauss as a gift to Lotti Speyer whom he had fallen in love with were only discovered in 1958. Swedish composer Gösta Nystroem's artistic fascination with the romance of the sea is evoked in Songs by the Sea written in 1942. Ever-changing seascapes conveyed by five poets provide the texts for Elgar's song cycle.
R.Strauss: Rote Rosen
R.Strauss: Die erwachte Rose
R.Strauss: Begegnung
Wagner: Wesendonck Lieder
Gösta Nystroem: Songs by the Sea (selections)
Elgar: Sea Pictures
