Koko Collective
Koko Collective brings together the UK's finest jazz talent for a journey through the golden eras of jazz. Led by multi-reed virtuoso Arran Kent, this all-star ensemble delivers masterful musicianship, dynamic storytelling, and irresistible swing—guaranteed to have you tapping your foot, on the edge of your seat, or even up and dancing.
Formed in 2018, Koko Collective emerged from the vibrant jazz clubs of Soho, infusing a unique energy into the timeless treasures of the Great American Songbook. This dynamic show is a lively exploration of jazz history, showcasing styles from early jazz and swing to bebop, Latin jazz, hard bop, and modern jazz. With a mix of engaging storytelling, playful humour, and an irresistible swing, Koko Collective guarantees an exhilarating and entertaining experience.
Led by the extraordinary multi-reed virtuoso Arran Kent, this ensemble is a powerhouse of talent, guaranteed to deliver an unforgettable performance.
Also fronting the band is trumpet player Johnny Woodham, known for his vibrant sound and work with artists like Alfa Mist, Tom Misch, and Jordan Rakei. A standout voice in the UK jazz scene, his playing brings flair, energy, and a modern edge to the group's classic swing.
On piano, James Browne brings both brilliance and precision, particularly in the world of stride piano, honed as a founding member of The Koko Collective and a former Royal Navy officer.
Holding down the low tones is Geoffrey Threadgold on double bass, whose gut strings, enormous sound, and swinging slap bass drive the groove like a locomotive.
The band's latest line-up introduces drummer Andrew 'Woody' Wood, marking the beginning of their new touring project, 'Sounds of the 30's & beyond'.
