Lighting up Stapleford Town with the Christmas Lights Switch On!
The countdown to Christmas begins for the community of Stapleford on Saturday 26th November with the annual Stapleford Christmas light switch on event, taking place at Walter Parker VC Memorial Square, Victoria Street and within Victoria Street car park. You can find the Christmas market running as with previous years on Victoria Street from 12noon with an array of tasty treats and drinks and festive items to purchase with a range of hot food, sweets and donuts for you to dive into across several festive stalls.
Santa will also be visiting Stapleford in his magical grotto, from 2.30pm-5.30pm at Stapleford and Bramcote Conservative Club, and he will be looking forward to speaking to the children to find out if they have been naughty or nice this year!
Children who visit Father Christmas will each get a ticket, and one lucky child will receive a GOLDEN TICKET. The Golden ticket winner will be invited on stage to lead the countdown to the firework display at 5.30pm!
The main event will start at 4.30pm. Children's fair rides will be running on Victoria Street Car Park for a bit of extra Christmas magic and entertainment. The main stage on Victoria Street car park will be hosting some fabulous performances from local choirs and performers (including festive carols from the Salvation Army band) as well as headline act The Jaxx - a skilled five piece band playing top hits from the last 50 years (for more details about the band please visit thejaxx.co.uk).
You do not want to miss the Christmas light switch on ceremony at 5.30pm at the Christmas tree, so join the Mayor of Broxtowe and the Town Mayor in the countdown. The event culminates in a spectacular firework display at 6.30pm; the best place to view the display is on Derby Road or Victoria Street Car Park.
Sponsors and further acts to be confirmed!
