Royal Concert Hall
Monday 28 January 2019 | 7pm
Tickets £3 (Includes tea or coffee)
Jonathan James is back with another user-friendly guide to classical music. In this illustrated talk he’ll be taking us on a tour of Russian music from Glinka to Shostakovich, revelling in some of the most exciting orchestral pieces in the repertoire along the way.
Discover the signature traits of the national style, whether proud polonaises or ominous chants, to create a list of ten essential ingredients of the Russian sound. What lies behind that sound and why it still so successful at the box office today?
With state of the art sound, courtesy of Nottingham Hi-Fi Centre, and a live musical interlude in the Royal Concert Hall, this is a great way to enjoy exploring orchestral music. And if you’re just setting out on the journey, it’s the ideal place to start.
Ticket includes teas or coffee.
