This Is Farming is an event designed to demonstrate, entertain and educate visitors about British farming, exploring the challenges, developments and progress of agriculture over the past 100 years.
Through a wide range of demonstrations and activities, the event brings daily farming life to the public, offering something for the whole family to enjoy and engage with.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience every stage of the farming journey, from understanding where food comes from to exploring agricultural machinery, horses, wood chopping and much more.
From livestock and land management to modern technology and sustainable farming practices, This Is Farming showcases the diversity, resilience and pride of British agriculture. Attendees can meet the farmers behind the industry, discover how farming continues to evolve, and gain a deeper understanding of the journey from field to fork.
Whether part of the farming community, working within the agricultural sector, or simply interested in learning more about British farming, visitors will find insight, inspiration and an authentic taste of rural life.
What’s On -
Harriet Cowan
The event is delighted to welcome Harriet Cowan from Clarkson’s Farm, who will officially open the show and take part in a meet-and-greet during the first few hours of the event.
UK Loggers
UK Loggers will be attending throughout the day, demonstrating a variety of tree-felling disciplines and running an exciting competition for visitors to enjoy.
Chainsaw Carving
Local chainsaw carvers will showcase their impressive skills throughout the day, with a selection of unique handcrafted pieces available for purchase.
Shire Horses
Representatives from the Shire Horse Society will be attending with their magnificent horses, demonstrating the important role these animals have played in the development of farming through the generations.
Barnyard Burnout
Barnyard Burnout will run throughout the day, challenging local farmers and fitness enthusiasts with a series of strength, cardio and endurance-based activities.
Vintage vs Modern Machinery
A fascinating display will highlight the evolution of farm machinery, from early horse-drawn ploughs to the powerful combines and advanced equipment used in modern agriculture.
Rural Crafts
Notts Spinners and Weavers will be demonstrating traditional wool crafts, showing visitors how beautiful knitted items are created from raw wool straight from the sheep.
