This warm weather has got me thinking, why not spend some time outdoors in Nottinghamshire this summer? The area is home to Go Ape, a high wire adventure course which is one of the most popular in the country. With a number of zip wires and other crossings on a 909m course, it makes for a great family day out as well as the ideal place for some adrenalin-fuelled fun with friends. Now, I hear the cries of fear from those of you who consider yourselves scared of heights.  For many of you, the prospect of swinging from the treetops probably isn’t your idea of a great day out. Up until a couple of years ago, I too would have been of this opinion, and so when a friend suggested a visit to such a course, I was far from enthusiastic. But surprisingly, a couple of hours spent tackling a high wire course was a lot more fun than I could have imagined, and a great way to get over my fear of heights. And if one day of outdoor adrenalin isn’t enough, why not check out the opportunies for quad biking, paintballing or 4x4 driving within the Sherwood Forest area? The National Water Sports centre is also a great place to try out rafting, canoeing or kayaking. For those of you who remain unconvinced, or are simply looking for something more relaxing, Nottinghamshire is also full of country parks, nature reserves and gardens which offer you the chance to take a stroll in some beautiful surroundings. There are also plenty of opportunities to hire bikes – a great way to explore the area for all ages. So with so many outdoor activities in Nottinghamshire this summer, I’d better get started and take advantage of the current sunshine before typical British weather resumes!
