There’s so much to look forward to in Nottinghamshire, from iconic film screenings to inspired poetry events and free days out throughout the county courtesy of BBC Radio Nottingham.

The Demon Barber of Long Row: puzzles and pies at Nottingham’s newest escape room

There’s no escaping the fact that Nottingham’s escape room scene is absolutely thriving. Nottingham’s appetite is so great that even Pieminister – famed, of course, for their scrumptious pies and tongue-in-cheek wordplay – want a slice of the action. 'The Demon Barber’ is an inspiered a Sweeney Todd themed escapology experience that Visit Nottinghamshire simply had to try out.

A Blissful Day with Mum at Eden Hall Day Spa

I first visited Eden Hall Day Spa in the north of Nottinghamshire around five years ago with my mum and totally fell in love the place. I’ve since been back several times, most recently with my mum and sister, and always have the best experience there – the warmest welcome awaits you at reception when checking in, the changing room and spa faculties are second to none and the food is to die for! It's the perfect place to visit with mum on Mother's Day.

Can Visit Nottinghamshire beat Escapologic at their own game?

Escape rooms, for one reason or another, have experienced a surge in popularity in the last decade. But could you do a better job?

A bright new look for Derby Road’s Focus Gallery

Visit Nottinghamshire never passes up an opportunity to explore Derby Road, so when we heard that Focus Gallery had reopened following a major refurbishment over Christmas, we were determined to be the first through the doors to see the new look. We headed over to meet the owner, Antonia Disney, for a cuppa and a sneak peek at some of the latest artwork.

Who needs Dry January when you can do Tryanuary?

Nottingham’s association with great beer goes way back. In 1752 its celebrity was cemented in a popular ballad, the chorus of which boldly declares ‘no liquor on earth like Nottingham Ale’. For Tryanuary we wanted to share a few of Nottingham’s brilliant breweries continuing our rich heritage, and where to sample their tasty tipples.

    Frenchie Café at Café Sobar

After Pugs and Dachshunds, it was about time for the French Bulldogs to show Nottingham’s Café Sobar how it’s done. Being the animal lovers that we are here at Visit Nottinghamshire, we wouldn’t let this event go by quietly. So off we popped to the pop-up Frenchie Café on a sunny Sunday morning, and let’s be honest, being surrounded by adorable Frenchies is always a good way to spend a day out the office!

Kitty Calm at Kitty Café Nottingham

We all know life can get a bit hectic every now and then, and we don’t always take the time to wind down and treat ourselves. Luckily, MindAlive is there to keep us all in check and take us right back to the basics of breathing in and breathing out. And so, on the 5th of September, the first Kitty Calm event was organised at the Kitty Café - for an hour of relaxation, meditation and mindfulness.
