Amir Bazrafshan is director of Apricot Creative Video – a video production company that helps clients get their video seen by as many people as possible. A long standing resident of Robin Hood Country; today he is sharing his favourite places with us.

"Langar Hall

On the outskirts of Nottingham, Langar Hall is a genuinely top class hotel and restaurant. The glorious grounds that surround the hall is home to game, as well as herb and vegetable gardens – the fruits of which can be found on the menu. It isn’t just the tranquil grounds and friendly service that makes a dining experience here so outstanding, but the total lack of pretentiousness is very refreshing. The homemade chocolates that accompany post-meal coffees are also not bad!

Broadway Cinema

I genuinely love this place. For those who haven’t heard of this place, shame on you! It is an utterly brilliant independent cinema that programmes interesting and evocative films from around the globe. In addition, there are often special events such as Q&A sessions, which are a favourite of mine. Broadway Cinema is also the home of festivals such as the Bang! Short Film Festival and the Mayhem Horror Film Festival. If you’re thirsty or peckish, there are two bars/restaurants with a selection of delicious food and drink.

Brown Betty’s Deli

The fact that more people don’t know about this place is a true crime. Tucked away on St James’ Street in the city centre, Brown Betty’s is a family run deli that serves the freshest, tastiest food you could wish to eat. Their menu is big, so big in fact that there is bound to be something that tantalises your taste buds, no matter what you are in the mood for. My personal favourites are the roast veg, bacon and salsa ciabatta and the spicy chicken and rice, served with salad and mint yogurt. The food is so good that my mouth is watering just writing about it!"
