The temperature may be plummeting, but we have plenty of festive events that are guaranteed to lure you away from those cosy log fires, and into the bracing winter air. This weekend is your last chance to see the Aurora Illuminationsinspired by the stunning Aurora Borealis at Rufford Abbey Country Park. The spectacular light show will take you on a magical and relaxing walk, with calming background music. Gates open at 5pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Wollaton Hall Christmas Craft Fair is on again this Saturday and Sunday, perfect for buying unique festive treats for the whole family, with Wollaton Hall providing a stunning backdrop for stalls pitched both inside and out.   Experience Christmassy fun at Creswell Crags from 11-4 on Saturday and Sunday set a midst scenic surroundings. Be enchanted by the Swimming Reindeer Exhibition (your last chance before objects are given back to the British Museum!), let Father Christmas know what you’d like under your tree and delight in music, crafts and festive food.
Visit Clumber Park for Christmas food and Carols this weekend, to inject some traditional Christmas cheer into this holiday season. A superb setting for enjoying walks and events with friends and family, you won’t be disappointed with this Yuletide fun. For a more energetic Christmas activity that will be sure to keep you warm, why not take part in the Capital FM Christmas Party Night on Saturday 15th December at the National Ice Centre. They are hosting a whole range of events for Christmas including the magical indoor rink, so make sure you join in the fun! We recommend a trip to the pop up fudge shop too - so many delicious flavours to try and buy, all made fresh on the Estate. Magic beans, a hungry giant, a huge beanstalk, and a little boy: bring them together and what do you have? All the ingredients for a magical seasonal tale! This magical adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk, with original music and inventive puppetry is the perfect Christmas treat for 4-8 year olds (and big kids too). You can find this at the Nottingham Playhouse starting on the 15th December and finishing on the 29th January. If you do venture out this weekend, be sure to capture your memories and share with us on our Facebook page or Twitter feed. We also have a Pinterest! If you like what you see, Pin it and share your love of Nottinghamshire.
