Spotlight on... Naturescape

As the weather warms up and the flowers start blooming, now is the perfect time to plan a visit to Naturescape Wild Flower Farm in Nottinghamshire. Located in Langar, just south of Nottingham, the wild flower farm and visitor centre is the only attraction of its kind in the UK. Since it opened in 1990, the centre has been focused on providing a site open for demonstration, information and personal advice on wild flowers, with wild flower seeds and plants also available for sale to the public. According to the team at Naturescape: “The objective of our centre is to provide a pleasant relaxing visit, where people can learn the benefits of wildlife gardening by example and recognise the possibilities for growing native plant species in their own gardens.” When the sun is shining, enjoy a walk through the wild flower meadows and explore the wildlife hedges, ponds, marsh, woodland edge habitat, butterfly and bee garden, cottage garden, rockery and dry stone wall habitats. The wetland meadow habitat, covering two acres and featuring a dragonfly pond, is a recommended spot during your visit. There is so much to see on the site, which covers 70 acres, with plenty of meadow and woodland walks to explore. The flowers themselves attract a large array of wildlife, and you’ll be sure to spot birds and butterflies darting amongst the colourful displays. After exploring in the sunshine, reward yourself with tempting home-baked treats in the tea room, or bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy in the grounds. Children will enjoy the play area on site, making for a great day out for the whole family. Entry to the site is free, and it is open daily from 11am – 5.30pm until 30 September 2013.
